Chiral resolution is an important process to separate a mixture of two enantiomers. In this work, tetrahydro-1,4-epoxynaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid (THENA), was used as a chiral resolving agent for binaphthol derivatives. The process is very efficient and could be used as a preliminary tool to assign the absolute configuration of substituted 1,1′-bi-2-naphthols by means of a simple TLC.
