On being named 2012 Outstanding Academic Government Official by the Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. She received the award in the 54th anniversary of the establishment of the faculty held in L01 of the round building at 14.50 on Wednesday October 21, 2012.

The Department would like to congratulate Mr. Thapakorn Tomeechai, a recent graduate of the undergraduate program, on receiving the outstanding public service award for 2011 from the Alumni Society of the Faculty of Science at Mahidol University. The award consists of an honorary plate and 10,000 Baht. 

Pongsathon Boonrod, a second-year undergraduate student majoring in chemistry at the Faculty of Science, has been selected by the Promotion of Academic Olympiad and Development of Science Education Foundation under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra (POSN) to represent Thailand (in chemistry) in the Asian Science Camp 2012 to be held at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel during August 26-31, 2012.

Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Taweechai Amornsakchai on receiving the 2011 Mahidol University Award of outstanding teacher. The award ceremony will take place in conjunction with the University’s graduation ceremony on Thursday July 5, 2012. 

Congratulations to Assoc. Prof. Jitladda Sakdapipanich for being awarded with an honorary plate for her outstanding petty patent. She received the award from the university president on Friday March 2, 2012, on the occasion of Mahidol name bestowment.

The Thailand Research Fund awarded the 2011 TRF Senior Research Scholar to Prof. Dr. Pramuan Tangboriboonrat of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the award ceremony on November 23, 2011.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Atitaya Siripinyanond was recently awarded with the 2011 TWAS Prize for Young Scientists in Thailand from the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World. She officially received the award at the 2011 National Research Expo conference on July 26, 2011, at the Bangkok Convention Center, Central World, Bangkok, Thailand.

The Japanese Association for Flow Injection Analysis & The Division of the Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry  (TRF) awarded Asst.Prof.Duanjai Nacapricha, Ph.D., with the 2009 FIA Award for Science.
Asst.Prof. Duangjai Nacapricha, Ph.D., is a Professor of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University who specializes in the development of flow-based systems for chemical analysis. In the past several years, she has received many distinguished awards including the 2008 Inventor Award (Outstanding Award Trophy), Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences section and the 2008 Innovation Award (Consolation Prize), Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences section, from the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) for the project titled “Gan Bhai Innovation for Rapid Measurement.” In addition, Asst.Prof. Duangjai Nacapricha has previously received the prestigious 2007 Mahidol University Prize for Excellence in Invention for her work on “Meters for Quality Control of Gasohol.”
The FIA award ceremony was held in Nagoya, Japan on November 27, 2009.

The Thailand Research Fund (TRF) awarded Prof. Pramuan Tanboriboonrat, Ph.D., with the 2008 TRF Senior Research Scholarship in the Field of Polymer.

Prof. Pramuan Tanboriboonrat, Ph.D., is a Professor of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University with a special interest in polymer colloids. Among her many distinguished awards include The Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Technology under the Patronage of H.M. the King in 1996 and L’OREAL-UNESCO Fellowship for Women in Science in 2007 for her project in applying nanoparticles into polymer surface for the improvement of surgical gloves.

 

The recipient of the TRF Senior Research Scholarship would receive a research grant for the amount of 7.5 million Baht and the TRF Senior Research Honorary plate from the Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, which was awarded on September 29, 2009 at Sala Dusit Dhalai Suan Jitladda.

Thailand, January 15, 2009 – Global publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc (NYSE: JWa), (NYSE: JWb), announced today that two outstanding young Thai chemists have been selected as the recipients of the Wiley-CST Award for Outstanding Publication 2008.

Jointly organized by John Wiley and the Chemical Society of Thailand (CST), the award is aimed at encouraging and recognizing the original, innovative, and outstanding research of young Thai chemists working in the chemical sciences at the outset of their independent research careers. The CST is part of the Asian Chemical Editorial Network which co-owns and supports Chemistry — An Asian Journal, published by Wiley.

Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn – an official patron of the Chemical Society of Thailand since December 2008 – presided over the opening ceremony of Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON2009), held in January from 14-16, at Naresuan University in Phitsanulok, Thailand. Her Royal Highness also presented the award to the two winners – Dr. Khamphee Phomphrai from the Department of Chemistry at Mahidol University and Associate Professor Dr. Mongkol Sukwattanasinitt from Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Chemistry – in recognition of their outstanding work in the field of chemical sciences.

President of the Chemical Society of Thailand, Dr. Supawan Tantayanon said, “We believe that this award will spur the young chemists on in their pursuit for excellence in the chemical sciences. We are very excited to have received such tremendous support for this initiative – we are thankful in having a publisher of John Wiley’s caliber as our sponsor, as well as to the HRH Princess’s presence at the presentation ceremony.”

The National Research Council of Thailand awarded Prof. Manat Pohmakotr, Ph.D., the NRCT: Outstanding Researcher Award 2008 in the Field of Chemistry and Pharmacy.

Prof. Manat Pohmakotr, Ph.D., is a Professor of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University and the deputy director of Center of Excellence for Innovation in Chemistry (PERCH-CIC), who dedicated himself in development of organic chemistry in the country. His researches are valuable to the academia as well as are accepted and published in high impact journals. With continuous outstanding research, Prof. Manat Pohmakotr has been invited to deliver special lectures in international conferences such as in Singapore, Taiwan, and South Korea.

Prof. Manat Pohmakotr has been studying synthesis of many natural compounds that possess biological properties. Several findings have been used as examples in several textbooks.The Outstanding Researcher Awardee would receive 300,000 Baht, Outstanding Researcher Award medal, and honorary certificate at the National Innovation Day 2009 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

he University Grants Commission, New Delhi awards 20 Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and 7 Research Associateships (RA) to scholars (teachers and students) from developing countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America to undertake advanced studies and research in Indian Universities.
