Education

  • Ph.D., University of Rochester, USA

Expertise

  • Surface science and engineering
  • Surface modiflcation and coating
  • Mechanical properties as well as friction and wear of brittle materials using nanoindentation technique
  • Precision fabrication of brittle materials like ceramics and glasses: To develop a new technique in grinding process; i.e., material removal without inducing fracture damage
  • To better understand friction and wear behaviors of polymers by using AFM (atomic force microscope)

Research Interest

  • This research deals with the development and optimization of the Ag-TiO 2 /Polyurethane nanocomposites with superior antimicrobial activities for self-disinfecting coating using response surface methodology (RSM). As the goal of this research is to develop real clinical applications for Ramathibodi Hospital (Bangkok, Thailand), the nanocomposite coatings were tested against seven key strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and subjected to cytotoxicity assay. The results confirm that the optimal formulation obtained from RSM model is effective with % reduction greater than 99% and safe for human cells.
