In this work, the versatility of sulfur, acting not only as a safe, inexpensive and userfriendly sulfur source but also as a complementary 6e-reductant to fill the redox gap, was demonstrated. In a combination with amines, sulfur could promote a novel autoredox of nitromethane to provide efficient access to a broad range of thiourea derivatives.
