    Research Interest

Heterogeneous catalysis, where the phase of the catalyst differs from that of the reactants, has received considerable attention because of the unique catalysts’ properties such as simple handling, easy separation, and recyclability. Over 80% of the chemical reactions in the industry use heterogeneous catalysts to speed up the reaction rate as well as to improve the reaction efficiency in order to optimize energy use and minimize waste. Our research focuses on the design and synthesis of novel heterogeneous catalysts for organic transformation reactions. Criteria such as nontoxicity, inexpensive materials, mild reaction conditions, and high atom efficiency are carefully considered to create “green and economical” catalytic systems with high activity and selectivity for desired products.
